Full-Time Kindergarten Grade Teacher 

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with strong academic record
  • Extensive experience working with elementary grade children
  • Personal traits for nurturing the growth of children and working cooperatively with adults
  • A passion and joy for working with young people; flexibility; patience and enthusiasm for learning

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Elementary Education with strong academic record
  • Teaching certification in Elementary Education
  • Extensive experience working in an urban setting with elementary school children from low-income households
  • Knowledge of the Responsive Classroom approach to academics and social-emotional learning

Essential Job Functions:

  • Designs, teaches and assesses whole class learning experiences
  • Develops and maintains resources appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the instructional strategies of the school community
  • Collaborates with enrichment teachers as a partner in the instructional process
  • Establishes high expectations for academic success and classroom behavior
  • Creates a positive educational environment for teaching and learning

Part-Time Specials Teacher – Coding & Science;  2:30PM-5:30PM

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Prior work with elementary students in an educational setting
  • Experience teaching in a speciality area (e.g. coding and science/health and wellness/Spanish)

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Education
  • Elementary teaching certification
  • Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience
  • Knowledge of the Responsive Classroom approach to academics and social-emotional learning

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepares for each enrichment session, gathers materials and resources as appropriate
  • Provides individualized or  small group instruction
  • Attends periodic staff meetings and ongoing professional development as needed
  • Manages students, tasks, and time to create a balanced and robust educational session
  • Creates a positive educational environment for teaching and learning
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Full-Time Music Teacher 9:30AM-5:30PM

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education with strong academic record
  • Experience working with elementary grade children
  • Familiarity with El Sistema-inspired programming
  • Personal traits for nurturing the growth of children and working cooperatively with adults
  • A passion and joy for working with young people; flexibility; patience and enthusiasm for learning

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Music or Music Education with strong academic record
  • Teaching certification in Music Education, K-5 Instrumental
  • Knowledge with Suzuki Method and New Directions for Strings Curriculums
  • Expertise in string playing and teaching
  • Experience working in an urban setting with elementary school children from low-income households
  • Knowledge of the Responsive Classroom approach to academics and social-emotional learning

Essential Job Functions:

  • Designs, teaches and assesses whole class learning experiences using National Standards for Music Education and individualized learning strategies
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers as a partner in the instructional process
  • Establishes high expectations for academic success and classroom behavior
  • Develops community-focused off-campus performance calendar and organizes comprehensive school recitals
  • Coordinates maintenance of 40+ violins; works with administrative staff to plan for expanded instrumental offerings
  • Collaborates with community partners
  • Creates a positive educational environment for teaching and learning
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
